The Government of South Australia is committed to reducing domestic violence, strengthening protection for partners and families and ensuring more offenders are brought to justice.

As part of the commitment to stronger domestic violence protections, the one-year trial of the South Australian Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) trial will begin on 2 October, 2018.

The DVDS helps people who may be at risk of domestic violence to find out if their current or former partner has a history of violence.

A third party (such as a family member, friend or service provider) can also make application for a disclosure to be made by police to the person they perceive to be at risk.
