If you are a frontline worker in health, community, education or other professional who works with families, the ability to recognise domestic and family violence and know how to help is important.
We aim for you to complete this course feeling empowered to respond confidently and know how to promote the safety of the person you are supporting.
Our foundational course will help you to understand:
- What is domestic and family violence
- Common patterns and behaviours of someone perpetrating domestic and family violence
- The link between gender inequality and domestic and family violence
- Why domestic and family violence is a safety issue
- How to support victim-survivors choices and safety
- Where to refer victim-survivors to for specialist support
What will you learn
- Understand the dynamics, prevalence, and drivers of domestic and family violence in Australia
- Recognise the tactics and patterns of behaviour undertaken by people perpetrating violence within relationships
- Learning out come number three with a longer title that runs into multiple lines and displays how icon behaves when there is more text.
- Identify key indicators including high risk factors in domestic and family violence
- Understand the complexity of lived experience and the ways people resist and respond to domestic and family violence
- Understand key features of trauma-informed responses
- Understand key considerations in creating safety plans with people subjected to domestic and family violence
- Understand referral options and processes for specialist domestic and family violence support
